Recipe: Spicy chickpeas - snack

Today has been a tough day.  Yesterday was the results day for the final accounting exams, and I had to go out celebrating with the wonderful souls I work with that passed. Big congratulations to everyone who did pass, I just wish that there had been a couple more of them.  Anyway – that’s why today has been a tough day, I might have had just one Capitol Cosmo too many.  I’m still trying to be a bit healthy and these days are always the worst – I’ve craved carbs and grease all day.

The good news is that I’ve won out overall, with these tasty spicy chickpeas being my only concession to snacking.  I’m still experimenting with the flavours as I think you could do a lot with these, but these are the two batches that I made up and thoroughly enjoyed.

Spicy chickpeas - snack
Yum, yum, yum

Number Served:

3-4 as a snack


1 x 400g tin chickpeas

Dressing 1
1 tbspn olive oil
1 tsp dried chilli flakes
½ tsp ground cumin

Dressing 2
1 tbspn olive oil
1 tsp dried chilli flakes
½ tsp garam masala


Toss the chickpeas with the dressing and some sea salt.

Spread on a baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.  Have a cheeky taste, if they aren't quite crunchy yet give them another few minutes.

Sprinkle with extra sea salt and leave them to cool slightly - not all the way though, as I love them a bit warm still.

Serve with a nice cold beer!
